Mallards Landing has created a program for respite and short term stay retirement living. In

2010, we realized the need was present to help people who are caring for loved ones at home.

At that time, we furnished an apartment and that's how our respite program was born. The

term respite means "a brief period of rest” and our thoughts went to the numerous people who

had been telling us that they love having their family member live with them. However

sometimes they could use a break.

All of our apartments have a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath. Apartments that are

designated for respite stays are fully furnished, have cable TV, telephone, and are ready for

someone to pack a bag and come for a stay.

Respite care includes:

Three meals per day, medication setup and delivery, daily housekeeping and laundry, shower

assist, help with dressing/ undressing, bathroom assistance, wheelchair assistance, 24 hour

monitoring, room checks, tray service if needed, wake up calls, and more.

Trial stay: 

Mallards Landing offers people the opportunity to stay in an apartment and try us out for a

week or two. That gives them the opportunity to see if they like it but it also gives us the time to

assess whether or not we can meet their needs for a permanent stay.

Transition from hospital, rehab or nursing home to home:

People who are released from the hospital, rehab, or nursing home may be doing well but not

quite well enough to go home. Many seniors live alone, or with an aging spouse who may not

be able to properly care for them. Our aides department can help with that transition and we

are more than happy to have the help of outside agencies for home health care nursing,

physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy.

Vacations:

Families caring for a loved one sometimes need to go away, either on vacation or business, and

might not feel comfortable leaving an elderly loved one home alone. Your loved one can come

stay at Mallards Landing in a fully furnished apartment, and the family will know that their loved

one is safe and secure.

Hospice care:

Hospice care is sometimes needed by people and Mallards Landing provides this much needed

service.

This service allows people to either stay in their own apartment or one of our fully furnished

respite apartments. Mallards Landing will coordinate services with the hospice company and

deliver the best care possible during the time the resident is in hospice. We can do frequent

check ins or 24 hour bedside assistance during that time. It's all about the comfort of the

resident, but also about comfort for the family as well.
